How to use summary shading angle analysis
Use this guide when you need to check obstruction angle rather than direct-sunlight duration or daylight factor.
TODO screenshot: show the Themes popover with Summary Shading Angle enabled, with an obstructed facade visible and the relevant report context highlighted.
Prepare the scene
- Import the site boundary and surroundings.
- Make sure the geometry that should block the sky is marked as Daylight Obstruction.
- Set North offset and Summary shading angle in Properties before you review the result.
Turn on summary shading angle mode
- Open Themes.
- Enable Summary Shading Angle.
- Wait for the daylighting update to finish.
Review the result
- Focus on edges near tall obstructions.
- Compare the most constrained parts of the project first.
- Keep the same Summary shading angle target while you compare alternatives.
If the output does not match the site
- Recheck North offset.
- Recheck which surroundings are marked as Daylight Obstruction.
- Recheck model alignment before you change the target angle.
Use Themes, compass, and viewport and Properties panel for the related controls.
