How to move around the viewport

Use this guide when you need to inspect the model quickly without changing the geometry.

TODO screenshot: show the viewport with the full scene framed in an oblique view, with the key navigation result highlighted.

Recenter first

  • Press F to fit the full scene if you lose the model.
  • Press T when you need a top view to check footprint alignment.

Orbit, pan, and zoom

  • Right-drag to orbit.
  • Hold Shift and right-drag to pan.
  • Use the mouse wheel to zoom.
  • Right-drag with command/control when you want target zoom.
  • Use pinch to zoom on a trackpad.

Check geometry systematically

  1. Fit the full scene.
  2. Switch to top view to check placement.
  3. Orbit back to an oblique view to inspect height and spacing.
  4. Pan only after the current area is framed correctly.

If navigation starts to slow you down

  • Fit the scene again.
  • Hide geometry you do not need from the left tree.
  • Switch to top view before you check site alignment.

For the full control list, use Keyboard shortcuts and Themes, compass, and viewport.
