How to generate sections

Use this guide when massing is already in place and you want section instances you can review or edit.

Prepare the stage

1. Confirm the massing result is acceptable.
2. Switch to Section.
3. Open Generative Algorithm Settings.

Set the section inputs in this order

1. Sections
2. Section Mix
3. Section Orientation

Use Snap to urban massing when you want section orientation to follow the generated massing axes.

Run the generation

1. Start section generation.
2. Wait for the run to finish.
3. Open Boundary → Sections in the left tree.
4. Review the generated section instances.

Check the result before you continue to floors

Open Reports → Sections and check:

• footprint
• coverage
• GBA
• NSA
• NSA to GBA

If you select individual sections, use the selected values to check the outliers first.

If the result is not ready for floors

• Change enabled templates in Section Mix.
• Change section-level targets in Sections.
• Re-run sections before you move to Floor.

Use Algorithm settings and Properties panel if you need field names while you work.
