How to use direct sunlight analysis

Use this guide when you want to check whether the scene meets a direct-sunlight target.

TODO screenshot: show the Themes popover with Direct Sunlight enabled, with the Reports panel open and the direct-sunlight result highlighted.

Set the scene first

  1. Import or prepare the boundary, context, and massing you want to evaluate.
  2. Mark relevant surroundings as Daylight Obstruction.
  3. Set Country, North offset, Direct sunlight target, Building reflectance, and Precision in Properties.

Turn on direct sunlight mode

  1. Open Themes.
  2. Enable Direct Sunlight.
  3. Wait for the daylighting update to finish.

Review the result

  1. Orbit to the facades that matter for the decision.
  2. Compare exposed faces, shaded faces, and deep courtyards.
  3. Open Reports → Site.
  4. Read Facade area under Direct Sunlight Sufficiency.

Compare alternatives cleanly

If you compare one option against another, keep these unchanged between runs:

  • Country
  • North offset
  • Direct sunlight target
  • Precision
  • obstruction flags on surroundings

If the result looks wrong

  • Fix North offset first if solar orientation looks wrong.
  • Check whether the right surroundings are marked as Daylight Obstruction.
  • Re-run at Medium or High precision only after the setup is trusted.

For the daylight controls themselves, use Themes, compass, and viewport and Properties panel.
