How to use daylight factor analysis

Use this guide when you want to review daylight factor performance instead of direct sun exposure.

TODO screenshot: show the Themes popover with Daylight Factor enabled, with the Reports panel open and the daylight-factor result highlighted.

Set the scene first

  1. Import or prepare the boundary, surroundings, and geometry you want to evaluate.
  2. Mark relevant context as Daylight Obstruction.
  3. Set Country, North offset, Building reflectance, Precision, and Ground sensors if you need them.

Turn on daylight factor mode

  1. Open Themes.
  2. Enable Daylight Factor.
  3. Wait for the daylighting update to finish.

Review the result

  1. Inspect the most constrained faces first.
  2. Check narrow spacing, recessed facades, and faces behind tall context.
  3. Open Reports → Site.
  4. Read Facade area under Daylight Factor Sufficiency.

Keep repeated checks comparable

When you compare design options, keep the same:

  • Country
  • North offset
  • Precision
  • Building reflectance
  • obstruction setup

If the result is unstable or misleading

  • Lower scene complexity only after you confirm the important obstructions remain.
  • Raise Precision after the scene setup is correct.
  • Fix scene alignment before you interpret the report.

Use Reports panel for report meanings and Properties panel for the daylight inputs.
